On Purity - Comments by Pastor Kyle Robbins
"Behold, I tell you a mystery; we
shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the
dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be
changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal
must put on immortality."
1 Corinthians 15:51-53
" Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." Revelation 19: 7-8
Here we have a peek into the future, the last major event in history as we know it.. There will be a final trumpet blast, and a marriage will take pace between the Lamb and His Bride.
Who is the Lamb? Who is
the bridegroom? It is none other than Jesus Christ who when He comes
as the bridegroom will come to take His bride, and when He returns, He will come
in all purity and in all holiness. He will come undefiled and
without any sin.. Not only will He come without sin, He will come
full of righteousness. He will come as the holy, holy, holy LORD God
Almighty whose glory fill all the earth.
He will come in all purity.
Who is the bride? The church of Jesus Christ: The community of people who, as the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 1, were predestined to be adopted as His sons, who were redeemed and forgiven through the blood of the Lamb, and who were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him. And on this wedding day, this is how the Lamb finds His bride, clothed in the fine linen of righteousness. She is a bride who will nr found to be in her glory, " having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing...." (Ephesians 5:27) She will be found to be in all purity. This is the picture we get of this final wedding day.
The Word of God makes it clear that every marriage here on earth is to reflect and be an illustration of this final moment in history, in which the bridegroom and the bride are both found to be pure and holy. However, in most weddings today, even those that take place place in the church, purity of heart, mind, and body in the bridegroom and the bride are extremely rare. We say that such purity is no longer possible. We say that such purity is no longer realistic. We may even make fun of such purity. But this is God's standard for the bridegroom and the bride on their wedding day. And in marriages where this is found, we have the closest picture possible of that final wedding between the Lamb and His bride who come together in purity.
This is the kind of wedding that is taking place place today.... Joseph and Marion have, by the grace and kindness of God and the power of the Holy Spirit working in their lives, kept themselves pure for one another. Never before have they touched one another with deep affection. Never before have they kissed. They have kept themselves pure and holy for the Lord, and for each other. And in doing so have made it possible for their wedding and their marriage to be a clear picture for each of us of that final wedding day when the Lamb comes to receive His bride. May this day remind us of that great day to come, when the trumpet shall sound, and the Lamb in all His holiness will find His bride in all her purity.
Background music - The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which are in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth, as
it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For Thine is the Kingdom,
and the Power,and the Glory,
Forever.
